Seat of wealthy merchants, principal building in courtyard built around 1271 for the shopkeeper Conrad Ludwig (gothic tracery windows, exquisite ceiling frescos dating from the 13th century). Recorded since 1294 as Schönes Haus ("Beautiful House").
Front building dating from about 1410, extending to the present volume. Alterations 1686. Restored 1966-68 together with the "Schönen Hof", Nadelberg 8, and used as a seminar building by the University.
