The large properties around Münsterplatz were originally the residences of noble church canons. After the Reformation the buildings were acquired by rich merchants, who converted them in the Baroque or Classical styles during the 18th century.
The Rollerhof was altered in 1758 by the silk ribbon merchant Martin Bachofen.
Today the imposing ground-floor rooms accommodate the restaurant of the Museum of Cultures (Museum der Kulturen).
