In the year 1861 the company Bargetzi from Solothurn delivered a new fountain to Basel. The transport was tricky; the octagonal basin is carved out of a single giant limestone block from Solothurn. The pretty little chamois on the fountain column was Basel's first cast-iron fountain statue.
