The Dreizack (Trident) or Neptunbrunnen (Neptune Fountain) is a work by Melchior Berri, who designed a number of important Classical buildings, dating from 1837. Three dolphins carved in stone, bearing a trident, form the top of the fountain column, which rises from the centre of the fountain basin. Water flows into the basin through four basilisk-shaped spouts.
