The permanent exhibition shows the Jean Tinguelys works from his beginnings in the fifties with the motor-driven reliefs, the drawing machines and scrap metal assemblages of the sixties, through the black-painted machine sculptures to the outsize three-dimensional works and pandaemonic cycles of his last creative period.

The building was designed and executed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta and contains flexible spaces, the size and mood of which enter into dialogue with the various work groups.
