The Sculpture Hall is a museum for casts of ancient sculpture and was originally established more than 100 years ago. Today the collection comprises about 2000 casts, providing a representative cross-section of ancient sculpture. The sculpture hall is not just the largest collection of casts in Switzerland, but is one of the most important of its kind in the world.

The Parthenon project in the Sculpture Hall is unparalleled anywhere in the world. Working over several decades, all the preserved remains of the architectural sculpture of the Parthenon Temple in Athens, once again in the form of casts, have been brought together. These have been carefully presented to show what the sculptural ensemble would originally have looked like. A series of precise architectural models in scale 1:20 augments the exhibition.

The Sculpture Hall is particularly popular with schools. It is an ideal location for history lessons for all grades, as well as for drawing lessons and of course for archeological students.
