The magnificent Haus zum Kirschgarten (Cherry Orchard House) is one of Switzerland's most important lifestyle museums. Besides its historical rooms, it also houses porcelain collections, internationally famous collections of clocks and watches, and other special collections.

This splendid building was built between 1775 and 1780 as the residence and business premises of a Basel silk-ribbon manufacturer. Its two floors of historical rooms offer a glimpse of Basel's residential culture in the 18th and 19th centuries.
There are also special collections of international importance: the Pauls-Eisenbeiss Foundations porcelain collection; the Nathan-Rupp and Eugen Gschwind collections of clocks and watches; collections of toys, Basel silverware, and the Physikalische Kabinett (Physics Room); as well as smaller temporary exhibits.
